HOW IT WORKS

Welcome to my longarm quilting services page! I provide prompt, professional, and quality care for your quilt tops and turn them into beautiful, finished quilts. Simply select which services you wish to have completed, and I will take care of the rest. Let’s create something special together!

I do not do custom quilting. I have a regulated stitch quilting machine but not a computerized automated quilting machine.

I can do a simple meander stitch at a lower cost, or you can choose from 115 edge-to-edge pantograph designs from my Pantograph Gallery page! Check back frequently as I am adding to my design inventory frequently. If you have a specific pattern in mind that I do not have, please send me an email as I can probably accomodate.

Make your quilt last as long as possible. For the best care, wash quilts in cold water and lay flat to dry.

Prepping your quilt top, backing, and binding:

Clip all loose treads. Loose threads can show through light colored fabric or get twisted into the stitching thread. Mark the top of the quilt and backing to ensure I know which edge to load onto the machine table.

Ensure that the backing is square and does not have uneven edges.

Iron quilt top and backing, making sure the seams are flat. There should not be any deep folds in the fabric, or the machine may catch and tug, tear, or otherwise alter the quilt top.

Do not baste the layers, either by pinning or spray baste. Basting the quilt will prohibit me from pinning the backing onto the machine table, layering the sandwich, and placement of the top.

The  backing must be 8 inches wider and longer than the quilt top. For example, if your quilt is 60x70, the backing should be 68x78.

If you send your own batting, it must also be 8 inches winder and longer than the quilt top.

If you are sending me the binding, please prepare it by cutting it to 2.5 or 2.75 inches, piecing, and folding in half lengthwise, and ironing. Also, please be sure to make the binding 12 longer than sum of all sides of your quilt. For example, if your quilt is 60 inches wide and 70 inches long, that calculation is 60+60+70+70+12=272 inches.

Pricing:

I charge 2.5 cents per square inch for pantograph patterns and 2.2 cents per square inch for a Meander stitch.

To determine the cost, multiply the length x width of your quilt top, then multiply that by .025 (or 0.22 for meandering)

Pattern Quilt Example: if the quilt top is 60 x 70 inches

                60 x 70 = 4200 x .025 = $105.00

Minimum quilt charge is $50 due to the time it takes to prep, load, and unload the machine.

Batting:

You can send along your own batting, or I can provide one of the following types of batting at an additional charge.

  • 80/20 cotton (Lays Flat)

  • 100% Polyester (Medium loft)

Batting is charged separately at .007 cents per square inch. A sample cost for a 60 inch x 70 inch quilt would be 60 x 70 = 4200 x .007 = $29.40

Thread:

I use 30 and 40wt thread, typically Omni or similar superior thread brands to produce the best results.

There is no separate charge for thread, it is included in the square inch price. Thread color is buyers choice unless you would like me to select a thread.

Trimming:

If you would like me to trim your quilt once the stitching is completed, the cost .002 cents per square inch. For example: 60 x 70 = 4200 x .002 = $8.40. If you have me do any part of the binding, there is no charge for the trimming.

Binding:

If you prefer to have me complete any or all the binding, the charges are by square inches and here are your options.

You send me a fully prepared binding, and I sew it on the front of the quilt:

  • .003 cents per square inch

  • For example, 60 x 70 = 4200 x .004 = $12.60

You send me the fabric and I piece, iron, and sew it on the front:

  • .004 cents per square in

  • For example, a 60x70 quilt would be 60 x 70 = 4200 x .004 = $16.80

If you would like me to hand bind the back:

  • .008 cents per square inch

  • For Example: 60 x 70 = 4200 x .008 = $33.60

Shipping to me:

I recommend using a plastic bag to protect your materials inside the shipping box. Shipping insurance is a good idea for higher dollar materials. The time clock for turnaround starts when I receive the quilt at my location.

Shipping to you:

I charge a set price for return shipping of $24.95 which includes all packaging and $300 of insurance. I uses USPS unless UPS or FedEx offer competitive rates or your preference. The quilt will be placed inside a plastic bag to provide an extra layer of protection during shipping.

Taxes:

Wisconsin deems quilting service as a tangible good and therefore taxable. WI tax is 5.5% and will be applied to the invoice.

Payment:

Once your quilt is completed and ready to ship back to you, I will invoice you for payment in full. I accept Major Credit Cards, PayPal, or Venmo (Or cash for local pick up).
